News Chelsea vs Club America result: Mason Mount spectacular late goal gives Blues opening win on USA Tour
Chelsea kicked off its three-match U.S. tour with a solid victory over Mexican club giants Club America in a game that was played in Las Vegas.
A sensational goal by Mason Mount from outside the box proved to be the winner seven minutes from time. Timo Werner had given Chelsea a momentary lead on the hour mark, but a Reece James backpass gifted Club America the equalizer.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel started an attacking front line of Callum Hudson-Odoi, Kai Havertz, and Hakim Ziyech, but they couldn't produce a goal although Ziyech was a catalyst throughout. Right wingback Kenedy unleashed a curler and Thiago Silva sent a header on goal, but in both instances the goalkeeper came up with the stop.
The Blues next travel to Charlotte and Orlando to face MLS club Charlotte FC (July 20) and London rivals Arsenal (July 23) to conclude the U.S. tour
